Jim Trott and Brass for Africa

Phil Lawrence
As Frank says, "in this episode we find out just how a young lad born in Liverpool becomes a top trumpet player, an in-demand film music and jingle writer and someone whose brass band compositions have taken music into new territories, so join us as he talks about his career and the way that technology has played an important part in his success.

Ulf Rosenberg
As Frank says, "my latest guest to go Beyond the Barlines with me is Ulf Rosenberg, the President of the European Brass Band Association and certainly the most influential voice in European Banding, if not the world. It was fascinating to hear his thoughts on the future of banding post the pandemic. Have a listen and then we'd love to hear your views via the Contact Us section of the website".

Allan Withington
As Frank says, "I couldn’t be happier to say that in this edition of Beyond the Barlines I’m joined by Allan Withington, a professional trumpet player who is also the creator of some of the most innovative music programmes for both band and orchestra and a hugely successful conductor both here and in his adoptive Norwegian homeland"

Stephen Cobb
As Frank says, "I‘ve never made a secret of my admiration for the International Staff Band of the Salvation Army, and their Bandmaster and Conductor Stephen Cobb. He’s been in the job since 1994, and before that was the band’s principal cornetist, which in my book is a tremendous achievement and worthy of admiration in itself".

Nicki Tonge
As Frank says, "we’re not only going Beyond The Barlines, but going behind the scenes as well in this edition of the podcast, as I’m talking to Nicki Tonge, Brand Manager for one the most significant production companies in the band world.
I’ve worked with her on projects all over Europe and have come to rely on and often marvel at her abilities to manage any situation so that I can get on with my job of looking at the camera and talking."
