A former professional singer and BBC Radio 3 Producer, Paul Hindmarsh is now an established festival curator, commentator, editor and producer. Since 2006 he has been Artistic Director of the Royal Northern College of Music's annual Brass Band Festival, and has served as Editor of Brass Band World.

A leading voice on British music of the 20th century, Paul has commissioned over 40 brass band works, continues to edit and arrange for choirs, brass band and orchestra and is in the process of completing a life and works study of music of Wilfred Heaton.

British conductor, composer and trumpeter, Elgar Howarth once said that Richard Marshall was one of the most outstanding cornet players that this country has ever produced. Becoming solo cornet at Grimethorpe when he was only 19 and then fulfilling his childhood dream of leading Black Dyke 10 years later are just two examples of how accurate that observation was.
