russell gray
I’ve known and worked with Russell Gray for decades and watched his career blossom both as a leading band player, an international soloist and as a conductor of both brass bands and symphony orchestras. It’s a special pleasure to talk to him as he begins his second period as conductor with Stavangar and makes plans for continuing his relationship with several European orchestras. He recalls how an early chance encounter with Philip McCann has changed his direction of travel on more than one occasion and of course we get to hear his wonderful playing.

During the lockdown Russell has been casting his mind back over some highlights of his career before he picks it up again with his new appointment as Associate conductor with Stavanger Brass Band and a rapidly filing diary of solo dates. Here's an extra free clip from my interview with Russell.
