"For this edition of Frankly Speaking I thought I’d share my thoughts on the goings on at Butlins in January.
It was billed of course as the Butlin’s Open Brass Band Festival and was, even in this period of pandemic uncertainty, full of interest and discovery, as all banding events should be.
I have a bit of history with the test piece, Philip Wilby’s Paganini Variations, so it got off to a great start, plus we all got to hear a brilliant young trumpet player who is definitely someone to watch.
