FRANKLY SPEAKING about joseph hotovitz

In my new Frankly Speaking, I’m speaking frankly about my friend, Joseph Horovitz, born in Vienna, into a Jewish family, who emigrated to England in 1938 to escape the Nazis.

For as long as I can remember the art of the composer has seemed to me to be right at the centre of everything we do as musicians, the rest of us are mere interpreters of their genius.

So when we lose one it’s a matter of great sadness to me, and when it’s someone like Joseph Horovitz who has given so much pleasure to performers and listeners alike, it’s particularly so.

So I’m looking back at the life and times of a fine musician, and a kind and humorous man Joseph Horovitz, who died on February 9th, 2022 aged 95.
