I’m often asked to compare great players, but it’s so difficult when they all have strengths that others don’t, but there is one player who I will readily put at the top of the list and that’s cornet and trumpet star Willie Lang.

After gracing the ranks of the Black Dyke Band for a number of years he went on to change the sound of British brass playing with a legendary stint as principal trumpet with the LSO from where his reputation spread around the world, and I’m his number one fan.
