THE MUSIC PODCAST: 100 (TRAIL)
A CENTENARY OF BRASS!
Before, during, and after the Pandemic it’s been a complete pleasure to bring you my weekly choice of the finest brass sounds from yesterday and today here on Frank Renton on Brass. It’s always been a joy for me to have hopefully given you a little insight into it all, and to what the music means to me personally.
As you might expect, in this 100th celebratory edition there are reminders of my first podcast, lots of my favourite music, some of which recalls the excitement of playing with the Black Dyke reunion band, and a listen to one of the undoubted stars of today, trombonist Isobel Daws, starting out on what will be a glittering career. Even today I’m still excitingly finding recordings of music I’ve never heard before as in the piece for tenor and band featured here, played by one of the greatest players of our time, Sandy Smith.
The 100th edition of the Music Podcast! Surely not, doesn’t time fly when you’re enjoying yourself.
And you can hear a complete track from the programme, completely free in our Track of the Week section here.
