THE MUSIC PODCAST: 20 (EXCERPT)

Frank writes about our latest podcast;

"My latest programme starts with music by the youthful Kenneth Hesketh written when he was only 19, but his piece Masque doesn’t sound immature in any way.

I feature four amazing soloists, the tenor horn virtuoso Owen Farr playing music by Herman Bellstedt, euphonium star Patrick Randefalk on Gothenberg Brass Band’s final recording, the ageless Derek Garside recorded sixty years ago with CWS Manchester Band and Alex Mortimer, how about that for a start studded cast, but I included two tracks from the quite wonderful Alison Balsom - the Goedicke Concert Etude stripped back to its original form with just piano accompaniment and a beautiful arrangement by Guy Barker of the 3rd Gymnopedie by Erik Satie.

That plus tracks from The Brass band Aid Celebrity Band, and Boobs and Brass, Celtic music from Brass Band Nord Pas de Calais as the Hauts de France Brass Band used to be called and a final riotous ending from Eikanger Bjorsvik band with music by Leonard Bernstein."
