"Hello I’m Frank Renton introducing this week's music podcast.

My next Music Podcast is another of my imaginary concerts, this time with statistically the No1 band in the whole wide world, The Cory Band from Wales.

The band was formed in 1884 and have had several purple patches of success, but nothing like the sustained brilliance of the last twenty one years under the baton of first Robert Childs, who conducted the band from 2000 to 2012, and since then with Philip Harper. In fact so consistent have been their performances that they have been top of the world rankings since 2005, a remarkable achievement.

We’ll be hearing from its brilliant roster of soloists, including internationally acclaimed David Childs and the very much missed solo cornet of 20 years, Ian Thomas.

Wales is the land of song so we welcome Cantorion as they dip into the Welsh culture with the band, plus of course there’s the magnificent sound of the Cory Band in full flight on a unique selection of recordings.

Join me for this brilliant imaginary concert with everything Cory!"
