THE MUSIC PODCAST: 4 (EXCERPT)
You only really get to hear the tenor horn in a brass band setting and to me it’s the very centre of a Band’s sound. When a player becomes good enough to be a soloist ‘out front’ the sound is even more unique and in Owen Farr we get to hear one of the very best in the world.
Take a march, any march by William Rimmer and you’ll get the perfect piece of music and the one we get in our 4th podcast was written especially for Foden’s when he was their music director back in 1902, and it's still something of a signature tune for them even today.
Along with music by the exciting Torstein Aagaard-Nilsen, a Roller Coaster of a piece by one of the busiest and most accomplished American musicians Stephen Bulla, and a timeless cornet duet by Joseph Horovitz, this is another mix of the very best brass sounds.
