Every week Frank selects his own favourite track of the week from our weekly Music Podcast, and it's completely free to listen too, here on Frank Renton on Brass. As he says,

"Every once in a while you get to celebrate the achievements and brilliance of an old friend who has added great lustre to the brass band culture, and this is one of those moments.

Alan Morrison wasn’t just a great principal cornet at Grimethorpe, he was a brilliant section leader who led by example and style, and a good all round musician who understood what was going on with the music. He also became a great friend and colleague over the years we worked together.

I sat for many hours in the rehearsal room at Grimethorpe, long after the others had gone to the pub, just listening to Alan practicing on his own, building his stamina and further perfecting his already perfect skills.

So my Track of the Week is Alan Morrison with Grimethorpe playing one of his party pieces, The Harry James Concerto for Trumpet, what’s not to like about that."

We hope you’ll enjoy our free track of the week that's below - and then will join us to hear all our many programmes, interviews and music podcasts. It’s a lot less than a cup of coffee a week!
