Every week Frank selects his own favourite track of the week from our weekly Music Podcast, and it's completely free to listen too, here on Frank Renton on Brass. As he says this week,

"Since 1990 Christmas in a particular corner of Michigan has been enlivened by the presence of the Brass Band of Battle Creek who give their annual Christmas Concert in the Kellogg Auditorium.

The band is a coming together of great brass players from all over America with guests from the UK and in 1995 I was invited to be their guest conductor.

The concerts were sensational but we also spent a weekend recording an album of mainly special arrangements entitled Sleigh Bells and Brass, and the playing was phenomenal, not surprisingly with soloists like Vincent di Martino, Danny Barber, Marty Erickson and our own William Rushworth.

The band was on great form and we decided to include this recording of an arrangement by David Leppla, of music by Alfred Reed, leaving you with a sense of wonder and awe, at least that’s what I said on the sleeve notes.

So Track of the Week here at Frank Renton on Brass, is the awesome Brass Band of Battle Creek, playing Russian Christmas Music by Alfred Reed.

We hope you’ll enjoy our free track of the week that's below - and then will join us to hear all our many programmes, interviews and music podcasts. It’s a lot less than a cup of coffee a week!
