Every week Frank selects his own favourite track of the week from our weekly Music Podcast, and it's completely free to listen too, here on Frank Renton on Brass. As he says this week,

"With a whole feast of delights to choose from this week as my Track of the Week, I’ve chosen one of the great characters of the brass band world, Shaun Crowther, because he brings so much fun to the business of performance.

As a teenager he showed great promise and was offered a place in the Fairey Band, and the engineering apprenticeship at the factory that went with it. I don’t know whether he was a good engineer or not, but he became a brilliant principal tuba, that led him to study at the Royal Northern College of Music as a mature student, and once graduated, a move into the world of teaching and playing full time.

He is a brilliant communicator and blessed with a great sense of comedy timing, which has enlivened many band performances over the years. So my Track of the Week is Shaun Crowther playing Bass in The Ballroom, with Grimethorpe conducted by Ray Farr, a Christmas treat from yours truly on Frank Renton on Brass."

We hope you’ll enjoy our free track of the week that's below - and then will join us to hear all our many programmes, interviews and music podcasts. It’s a lot less than a cup of coffee a week!
