Every week Frank selects his own favourite track of the week from our weekly Music Podcast, and it's completely free to listen too, here on Frank Renton on Brass. As he says this week,

"Philippe Schwartz is not only a brilliant trumpet player and leads the section in the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, but is a great teacher and is Professor at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. He is also at the forefront of all sorts of projects involving young people in Wales and fostering an interest in music in general and brass playing in particular.

Philippe’s own interest in playing the trumpet was stirred by his dad who was a member of a local wind band in their native Luxembourg.

So making this recording titled de Lux Trumpet of a series of concertos not previously recorded must have been a bit special for the family.

So my Track of the Week is Intrada, the first movement of a concerto for trumpet and wind band by Trevor Ford played by Philippe Schartz with the Military Band of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg conducted by Andre Reichling, here at Frank Renton on Brass."

We hope you’ll enjoy our free track of the week that's below - and then will join us to hear all our many programmes, interviews and music podcasts. It’s a lot less than a cup of coffee a week!
