Every week Frank selects his own favourite track of the week from our weekly Music Podcast, and it's completely free to listen too, here on Frank Renton on Brass. As he says this week,

"August 2022  is a remarkable time for the Tredegar Town Band, with not one but two appearances in the Royal Albert Hall as part of the BBC Proms, and the release of an album of the brass music of Ralph Vaughan Williams in which they are conducted both by Ian Porthouse and Martyn Brabbins, the principal conductor of English National Opera, but at heart a trombonist.

August 2022 also marks eight hundred years since the death of Henry The Fifth King of England from 1413 to 1422, yet oddly enough born in Wales at Monmouth Castle, I guess because his mother was there at the time, so he was also known as Henry of Monmouth.

Why are these two things connected, well Track of The Week here at Frank Renton on Brass is the new recording of the Tredegar Town band conducted by Ian Porthouse, playing The Prelude Henry the Fifth, by Ralph Vaughan Williams, from their new album Vaughan Williams on Brass."

We hope you’ll enjoy our free track of the week that's below - and then will join us to hear all our many programmes, interviews and music podcasts. It’s a lot less than a cup of coffee a week!
