TRACK OF THE WEEK
Every week Frank selects his own favourite track of the week from our weekly Music Podcast, and it's completely free to listen too, here on Frank Renton on Brass. As he says this week,
"The first time I heard Isobel Daws play the trombone was at the finals of the BBC Radio 2 Young Brass Award in 2017, which I was presenting live on Radio 2.
I was immediately struck by her easy attitude to playing, her confidence that she knew exactly what she was doing and her ability to make it all sound all so easy, when we all know that it isn’t. The virtuoso player and teacher Ian Bousefield who has been a friend for very many years echoed my sentiments exactly and was of the opinion that Isobel would go on to do great things.
Well 2022 is a great year for Isobel, she won a place at the famed Karajan Academy of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra and has already made her debut with that famous orchestra, and she has released her first solo album on the Doyen Label.
So Track of the Week here at Frank Renton on Brass is Isobel Daws, with Timothy End at the Piano, playing A Dream of Fire by Saskia Apon, and it’s a delight, here at Frank Renton on Brass."
We hope you’ll enjoy our free track of the week that's below - and then will join us to hear all our many programmes, interviews and music podcasts. It’s a lot less than a cup of coffee a week!
