whit friday special

To help our launch of Frank Renton on Brass, back in May 2020, we produced a free programme about Whit Friday where Frank explores some of the traditions and anecdotes that have built up over the years, and plays the marches that would have been ringing around the villages of Saddleworth in the foothills of the Pennines, dubbed the Greatest Free Show on Earth.

As he says, "I first appeared at Whit Friday in 1953 playing second cornet with Black Dyke and hardly a year has passed without me being involved as a conductor or commentator for the BBC, so Whit Friday means a great deal to me."

Have a listen to this special free programme and then subscribe for lots more great content.
